One of my all-time favorite book recommendations to artists is Pema Chodron’s book, When Things Fall Apart.
I know this is an unlikely pick, so allow me to explain.
If you turn to any page and substitute the word “meditation” for whatever your artform is: painting, writing, photography, costume design, acting...
You’ll find excellent advice for using your creativity as a crucible for growth. Try it and see for yourself.
It was through Chodron’s work that I became acquainted with the idea of befriending uncertainty. Or at least trying not to chafe against it.
Not just now, although these times amplify all the ways in which uncertainty is at play in our lives.
