Having a daily creative practice is a respite always...

And especially now.

I’m a United States citizen and a resident of Mexico. I’ve always felt it unfair that my passport allows me to cross easily between our borders, while theirs does not.

The U.S. Mexico border is closed to all non-essential travel.

Even though everyone is being told to stay at home, and work from home, construction on Trump’s border wall continues.

I remember how creepy it was to see Donald Trump at the Miss USA pageants. Not that I ever really watched them, but somehow I remember seeing news of him prowling backstage and posting with scantily clad very young women. How is he now our commander in chief? I’m still not over that.

Life is so weird. It’s all I can think of to say right now.

These small, original portraits are painted on top pages cut and upcycled from my sketchbooks.

This portrait is from the series, 100 Portraits in 100 Days: A Quarantine Diary.

What began as a creative challenge to focus my energies during the first weeks of solo quarantine in March 2020, evolved into a diary of my experience.
