22. KRYSTYNA
Her favorite colors are Payne’s Grey and Purple.
You can’t tell from the photo, but there is a sheen of sparkle on her face and hair, I think I used a metallic purple left behind by one of my workshop attendees last year. Remember when we could travel freely and workshop in person?!
I’m not a trained visual artist, but self-taught, and these are my first attempts at painting people’s faces. Portraits! It’s a big creative challenge for me.
Every day I take away some discovery about my own creative practice and process. Which is even more exciting to me than these artifacts of the creative journey.
Note to Miss K: I see you as a sparkling, twirling, force of nature, creating beauty down under in Australia. And I hope to visit with you in person on your side of the world, and pick up your beautiful sculptures and weavings with my own hands, @krystynamooreart
These small, original portraits are painted on top pages cut and upcycled from my sketchbooks.
This portrait is from the series, 100 Portraits in 100 Days: A Quarantine Diary.
What began as a creative challenge to focus my energies during the first weeks of solo quarantine in March 2020, evolved into a diary of my experience.
