— Audre Lorde
Today, we have much to celebrate.
We have the opportunity to focus on what our strengths are.
We have the wherewithal to conjure up visions of what we desire, hope for, dream about.
We have a community of kindreds surrounding us, even if it’s a tight circle of two or three, and even if you reach out via telephone or mouse click.
We have inspiration. We have beauty. We have love.
We have so much goodness everywhere and all around us.
We have so much goodness within us.
All of this is available for the choosing.
We get to choose where to put our energy and our focus.
We get to focus on all the aces we’ve been dealt, and we get to decide how we’re going to play them.
You can call it optimism, seeing the glass half full, or maybe even Pollyanna-ish.
I prefer to not label this choosing, and instead to just try to practice Being these ideas, rather than thinking them.
Propped up in bed with my laptop in my lap, a cup of Tulsi tea on the nightstand, two sleeping dogs beside me,
after a day painting and housekeeping and reading (not in that order),
I feel so full of gratitude for courageous creative women like Audre Lorde, who pave the way for you and I to be powerful, strong, visionary, gentle, afraid — but then going ahead anyway when we’re ready.

Your Writing Made Easier
During the first 30 Day Journal Project, I found that having the prompts printed out in advance helped me get right into my writing for the day.
This is my lazy writing & journaling method. It works!
