It’s a planning geekery fiesta over here at my house, my favorite way to ring in the new year: with a fresh new calendar and planner market up with new goals, dreams, and ideas.
Grab your beverage of choice and join me!
I’ve just printed out a bunch of minimalist calendars that I made for 2019, in celebration of form and function that delights.
The images below are linked, in case you want to see them in my Etsy shop.
The long-winded title of this post is my way of saying:
Planning can be beautiful.
Good design clarifies, too much clutter overwhelms.
Functional things like calendars shouldn’t be so ugly. Why all of the lined boxes everywhere?
If you know me at all, or have seen my journals, you’ll know that lines in general make me a bit dizzy.
I’ve always written in unlined, blank sketchbooks… which are so convenient for sketching as well.
Getting to the point:
I could never find calendars I liked enough to look at every day, so… finally made my own. Or three. Or four. I believe I am stopping at four designs. For now.
These calendars have been a minor obsession over the last few months. I’d work on them in between projects, travel and hosting groups and guests here at Art House Oaxaca.
Friends popped in to my studio, and wondered what I was up to with all the calendars!
The thing is, I love to design, and since “retiring” from my design firm eight years ago, haven’t made much in the graphic design department.
But now I’m inspired…
If you want to see all of the calendars, and get one for yourself, they are here, in my brand new Etsy shop.
And happy new year!
