Have you ever dreamed of doing an art residency?

Since 2015 I’ve been hosting artist retreat workshops here in Oaxaca Mexico. My own workshops, as well as a select group of other teachers who travel here to teach their art workshops.

Hearing about the workshops, several artist friends (and friends of friends) who know me, wrote to ask if they could come stay here and do their own thing.

They asked:

Can I do my own Art Residency at your place in Mexico?

Not attend a workshop, just hang out in an artistic environment, and maybe do some creative work of their own.

So besides hosting dozens of workshops and groups, the most inspiring people keep landing on my doorstep, wanting to experience the magic of Mexico for themselves.

Many have come back again! It’s so rewarding to be a part of another artist’s creative journey.

Now that things are humming along with a small staff, Art House Oaxaca is now available for you to book your own private art residency.

If you’re a teacher interested in bringing your own group here, read on.

Why Do an Art Residency?

Dreaming of time & space to simply…create?

An art residency is designed to give you the opportunity to dive deep and focus on a creative project without distraction.

When you get away from your everyday surroundings and demands on your time, you are giving your inner artist the gift of support and concentration.

I have forgotten my long ago dream of doing an art residency! Life got in the way! It is good to be reminded of forgotten dreams. Your photographs make me wish to jump on a plane and come to Mexico………so colourful and joyous! You have done a wonderful thing in Oaxaca and I would so love to be a part of it sometime. Alas and alack, that time is not now but maybe sometime?…………
The fear! The responsibility! To produce something worthwhile and not feeling as if the term “I am an artist” is a pretence!!!!!!!!!!

Keep up the wonderful work, Lisa.

Rene: “It is good to be reminded of forgotten dreams.” YES!!!

We ALL need to be reminded!

Fear and responsibility, imposter syndrome, and needing to PRODUCE something “worthwhile” — ooh, these are such juicy topics!
