30 day journal project, day 1

day 1 journal pages from root 30 day journal project in August

From August 1 – 30, I’m hosting the 30 Day Journal Project, a online event with the aim of getting more people journaling.

If you’d like to participate, go to the project page and sign up. It’s totally free to participate.

I’m using one of my one-of-a-kind Artful Traveler Journals for this project.

I love this style of journal because it is easy to add pages, and also take pages out do do painting or gluing without getting the other pages messed up.

It’s also easy just to grab the day’s pages and take them out to work in a cafe or at a friends house – no need to bring the whole journal if you want to travel ultra-light.

The pages include printables I’ve made that go with each days journal prompts – many are photos from my own sketchbooks and visual journals, like the BEGIN piece you see here.

I love painting and drawing on my pages before writing.

This gets me into the creative flow… wordlessly.

Very soothing.

It’s always mysterious which colors call me…

I do my best to listen and pick the color given to me without thinking.

Coral is a new color for me, first started playing with it last year when I painted a chair coral.

Every color looks good next to kraft paper!

About my daily project posts

I’ll be posting my pages everyday, usually the day after I make them. Need the time to photograph in good light, upload, etc.

Since I’m not in the habit of posting everyday, I won’t suddenly start emailing subscribers everyday. Instead, I’ll round up the posts once a week or so, and send them that way.

If you do want to keep up with my daily posts in August, simply come over to my website, or sign up to get my posts via RSS my clicking the Bloglovin’ icon. It’s found on the sidebar or else below this post.

Day 1 of the project finds me in the middle (at least I hope it’s the middle) of recovering from food poisoning. I’m only operating at about 20% the last few days. Which is about 19% more than I was a week ago when this little bugger got me.

I mention this because I feel pretty crappy, achey, headachy, nauseas, exhausted, and can’t eat much.

This is affecting how much and how quickly the work happens with the project. (At the moment, a lot of stuff I’ve planned to have ready (extra goodies!) just isn’t going out yet. Frustrating, but trying to just roll with it.

Sick and all, I’m committed to showing up in my journal and seeing this project through.

Commitment is tomorrow’s theme.

Sending energy your way, Lisa! Thank you for the 30 Day project. I’m psyched to hear more about the travel journal workshop when it’s ready.

Lisa glad you are feeling a bit better. Food poisoning is a dreadful thing, really takes it out of a person. Blessings to you, Suki

I’m in the process of putting together a whole new workshop about this journal – how to make, how to use… stay tuned!

Thanks for the Journal project! I completed the first one and even continued to make a few more pages afterward …

I was wondering if this was a repeat of the one from earlier in the year or will there be differences?

    Thank you –

Theresa – The prompts are the same – there will be difference in some of the content – as you can see here, I’m doing daily posts on my own journal pages. More new stuff will be rolling out – I’ve been really sick for several weeks so slowing trying to get it all done.
